Prizes

When I was working in Australia, I used to give out icy poles as prizes to the player of the day, but now that i'm working in the UK, Icy Poles have lost their appeal.  What sort of ideas have people used to help award pupils who give 100% during a lesson?

Also, what are some ideas for prizes for mid term PE raffles etc that don't cost a hell of a lot of money?

Thanks

I keep an eye out for cheap plastic stuff - mini staplers, pencil sharpeners, multi-coloured pens, highlighters, rubbers, etc, etc.

If you get the timing right you can grab 20 or 30 small items for less than a tenner.

I have a lucky dip box that gets used when a student comes up with a really great comment or makes a strong/unique connection betwen topics...

When I need to give everyone a little something I use Curly Wurly's........ bulk bought at a Cadbury's outlet so they are only 8p each!

Somehow they always go down well, even with an 18 year old District Level Prop forward!

Thanks stef

I've thought about giving out lollies/sweets but i'm concerned about the healthy eating aspect of it.  Plus, i'm working in an orthodox jewish school and need to think about foods being kosher!

I'll hunt some sports shops and see what small items i can buy cheaply.  i've thought even having a raffle after each module and after each lesson the 'player of the day' gets a raffle ticket into the draw.

I have ordered small sports related items off ebay: sweets, pens, rulers, whistles.  Anything with a sporting theme (event, team, sport).  Sports direct is also good for small cheap items.  After a big event is always a good time.
