A2 coursework - all boards

Having just marked it and sent it off I wondered if anyone else was astounded by the marked lack of IT ability of their students?

So many of mine sent me an out of date version of their work for final marking as they couldn't remember which randomly named file was the right one!!!

That and it was probably the worst year I have ever seen quality wise. Awful, awful, awful!

So I am hoping that over summer we could all discuss this.

I teach AQA and am currently designing a sort of portfolio.... does anyone else have any ideas?

So far I have a contents list and am starting ot add some detail. But I am a bit OTT on the theory side.... help required to make it look and sound interesting and doable would be great!

HELP!

AQA have just changed the amount that they have to hand in because of the quantity of work being produced but I have to say that none of that was coming from my pupils. I am also AQA and found that their English and ICT skills were poor. We have started the coursework early with the AS group after they got back from exam leave and I have to say that their work has been of a much higher standard. I struggle with the coursework as I think that it is very dull and meaningless to their understanding of the topics but that might just be me!

I'd started my lot off with some summer homework. And now I have to tell them it has all changed :(

I'm lucky in that I can make it relevent to them as they are all quite elite (we are a sports specialist college) and I get their coaches involved and the video evidence is all down to them etc.

Still, I am putting off the new version of how to complete the coursework! I'll get another week's worth of lessons re-wroked for them first - then get back on to IT about the chaos their upgrade has caused - then do some of the psych work I am supposed to have done!

Oh! I'm bound to think of something else to delay the inevitable! :D

Hi all,

I have been given the role of teaching A/S level practical (AQA) this year and I am wondering how others structure their course.  I did some planning over the summer holiday and the specification stipulated that students had to show competency in 2 roles; performer/coach or leader /official.  However, today a colleague informed me that AQA have changed their specification and pupils can now show competency in any 2 components of the afoementioned roles and therefore could show proficiency in 2 performance roles if they should so wish.

I was thinking of having some sort of portfolio for the A/S practical so that training plans/coaching plans and evaluations for example can be kept and updated.  I am wondering :

1) What do others do (in terms of structure if you have a cohort that opt for different combinations/sports)?

2) Is it best to get cracking with the video evidence?

3) Do any of you have a portfolio and if so what are you including (just for this section)?

3) Any other useful tips you may have?

Thanks

Matt

I am trying to convince my newbie that a portfolio is the best way to go. I am sliding it in bit by bit!

I will probably take most of the year to build one for AS and A2, so I can't help just yet, but I will take any suggestions and design as complete a resource as possible and then post it here.

I'll do it in sections to start of with if anyone wants to 'borrow' it!
